Mandatory activites for PhD students (intake year 2024-2025)

All PhD students must complete modules 1-4 and participate in four Artistic Research Forums.

The four modules and the Artistic Research Forums are described in the course plan for 2024-2025. See pdf to the right. 

 
 

Progress plan

You will be asked to set up a progress plan showing when you are going to attend the seminars in module 1-4 and the four Artistic Research Forums. Your institution must approve the progress plan and submit the plan to the research school´s administration.

Online introduction seminar and in person-seminar

An online introduction seminar (module 1a) takes place on 4 March 2025 from 10:00 to 14:00. In this seminar you will be introduced to the Norwegian Artistic Research School; you will meet a recently graduated PhD candidate; get a very brief introduction to artistic research and receive practical information about upcoming activites and what you need to hand in and prepare.

The online introduction seminar (module 1a) is offered twice a year, and the next optional date is 4 March 2025. Note! You need to complete the online seminar (module 1a) before you can attend the in-person seminar (module 1b). See presentation from the in person-seminar 23 October 2024 (pdf to the right).

Each year we invite a graduated research fellow to join the introduction webinar. The former fellow share her/his experiences and lessons learned in an informal conversation.

Søren Thilo Funder


Søren Thilo Funder, graduated research fellow from the University of Bergen contributes to the introduction webinar in 2024/2025. He completed his Artistic Research project Oceanic Horror or How to Survive the Night in the Haunted Mansion of Absolute Capitalism in 2023.
