The "All references and resources A-Z" page is under construction. 

This is the reference list for the Norwegian Artistic Research School. The PhD candidates will be informed before each seminar which of the titles they need to read. Some titles can be on the reading list for several seminars. In addition, the seminar leaders might add readings to the list up to one month before the seminar takes place. 


For Artistic Research Forums the abstracts are mandatory reading. The abstracts are published on the forum's webpage, normally one week before the event.

ADiE is a partnership with eight organizations from across the UK and Scandinavia that seeks to support, substantiate and enhance the delivery and impact of the third cycle provision in Dance and Performance degrees. The webpage includes resources and case studies.


Artistic Research in Music

Artistic Research in Music – an Introduction is a free online course (MOOC) curated by the Orpheus Institute. The course offers an introduction to relevant research tools, techniques, and methodologies as well as the key concepts of artistic research in music.


Asia Pacific Artistic Research Network (APARN)

APARM is an initiative from the Centre of Visual Art, University of Melbourne and the Indonesian Institute of the Arts Yogyakarta. 


Artistic Research Africa Dialogues (ARA)
ARA is a series of podcasts from Wits School of Arts at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg – available on all the major podcast platforms – exploring questions related to artistic research through dialogues with practitioners both international and African.

The committees' shared secretariat is based in Oslo. (* In 2021, a specialty group was established by Universities Norway -  Art, Design, Architecture (UHR-KDA) to suggest ethical guidelines for artistic research. The group has not yet completed the work).

JAR is an international, online, Open Access and peer-reviewed journal that disseminates artistic research from all disciplines. JAR is provided by The Society for Artistic Research.

The declaration aims at presenting a clearer, better articulation of the concepts and impact of AR within the Frascati Manual - the OECD classification manual for collecting statistical research data.


VIS - Nordic Journal for Artistic Research

VIS is a digital journal presenting artistic research, with a special emphasis on the Nordic region. It highlights the importance for Nordic artist-researchers of reflection as a mental discipline that, when interwoven with artistic practice, generates new knowledge. The journal is the result of a cooperation between Stockholm University of the Arts (SKH) and the Norwegian Artistic Research Programme of the Norwegian Directorate for Higher Education and Skills.

What Methods Do - Exploring the transformative potential of artistic research

Documentation of the International Symposium organized April 9th 20024 in Tilburg by Leiden University’s Academy of Creative and Performing Arts (ACPA) and the Platform for Arts Research in Collaboration, in coordination with Fontys Tilburg and the Society for Artistic Research (SAR). The symposium was an initiative of Route Kunst – Art Route, one of the 25 Routes of the Dutch National Research Agenda (NWA).
