Can the enchanting melodies of Norwegian folklore harmonize with the ancestral music of Sardinia, find resonance in the improvisational flair of Nordic jazz and stimulate stylistically- novel music narratives?
The purpose of this project is to delve into the synergistic potential of these distinct musical domains to refashion tradition by pioneering seminal artistic results to exhibit a contemporary, idiomatic idiosyncrasy. Within these diverse music areas, a modern approach on advanced rhythmical models and avant-garde compositional methodologies intersects with the pristine metric and lyrical qualities of Sardinian and Norwegian folklore, dwelling on Nordic jazz abstractions to inform, stimulate and influence new musical findings.
From a personal, contemporary drummer perspective, this exploration is not just a fusion of disparate elements but a transformation of ingrained features, which aim to respectfully integrate tradition into an uncharted artistic territory. At its heart, this research is driven by a deep rhythmic inquiry, aspiring to redefine how traditional music`s cadences can evolve and morph within a contemporary framework, enabling new performative paradigms.
Bruno Tagliasacchi Masia is an artistic researcher, drummer and composer. A versatile drummer with refined taste, Bruno Tagliasacchi Masia has showcased his musical prowess across various European countries, collaborating with a diverse array of musicians. Born on the island of Sardinia, Bruno's musical journey took him to different cities, shaping his drumming style and expanding his rhythmic vocabulary.
Currently working at the Grieg Academy of Music in Bergen, teaching drum students, improvisation classes and music therapy students, Bruno is pursuing a multidisciplinary project within music creation and improvisation.
