I am currently a PhD Fellow in Artistic Research at The Faculty of Fine Art, Music and Design (KMD). My research focuses on exploring the creative potential that emerges from the synthesis of guitar and voice in the realm of jazz and improvisational music.

Moreover, I reflect on the challenge of simultaneously creating coherent instrument and voice output and how it may create its interactions and interdependencies by bypassing established routines associated with each component in isolation. By drawing parallels between internal filter processes in analog synthesis to the subtractive nature of the cognitive systems of all sentient beings, I aim to shed light on the filter set and biases in my creative process and systems of which I am a part. 

Born in Bergen, Norway, Nina started her jazz studies at the Department of Music (IMU), NTNU, in 2006, and further graduated with a Master of Global Music from the Royal Academy of Music, Aarhus, in 2012.

As a performer, Nina has toured internationally with her band Nina & the Butterflyfish, been involved in nationwide projects with The Cultural Schoolbag (DKS) to present arts and music to school pupils in Norway, and worked freelance with among others the Belgian-Congolese artist Zap Mama.
