3. How to use reflexes

The idea of working with the mirror reminded me of the Kaleidoscope, which symmetrically reflects coloured objects in motion, and made me think of the fragmentation and reconstruction of reflections that the eye perceives. So I thought that if instead of moving objects, the viewer would see himself inside the reflected forest, it would be like seeing his own fragmented self, a kind of disintegration of the ego inside the echo, that is, inside nature. The effect of feeling and seeing oneself as a fragment within the forest, becoming part of it, disintegrating one's 'narcissism' made me think about the concept of the work.

An interesting work that has addressed these concepts is Inhotim - caleidoscópio, of Olafur Eliasson.

Taking photos in the fountain in the Parque das aguas, one can observe how the water creates waves that similarly fragment the surface and thus the reflection of what is reflected in it.

4.Different shapes for different mirroring

So I thought that the concept of the Caledoscope was perfect and that by using different geometric shapes, the visual result of mirroring would be different.

In this way, each person could reflect themselves in different modes, could in a sense access different facets of their self.

The journey to this concept of the reflection of the self, of the facets of each one, of fragmentation, of the example of Narcissus, makes me think of the concept of neuro divergence, of neurological functioning different from the norm. After all, every brain is different and medical and psychological research is increasingly highlighting the "normality" of the differences.

Fragment your vision, your point of view, but also normalize the different brain process compared to the norm; learn to fragment your ego in a healthy way to identify with others and with nature, accept multiple points of view. These are all concepts that must be integrated into current society, where selfishness and narcissism are increasingly stronger

2. Direct and personal aproach to the space

I returned to that place and began to experiment with the mirror object and space. I realised that what made that mirror so fascinating was the reflection of the forest coming in through the large windows in front of it. Two surfaces reminiscent of acuqa, glass and mirror, transparency and reflection, in between the spectator. The effect produced is that of seeing oneself reflected inside the forest. This seemed very special to me, because usually when you immerse yourself in nature, you see it and its beauty. In this context, however, one observes oneself inside nature, one almost observes oneself from the outside, it is us and nature together. A beautiful image of tranquillity and health. An image that reminded me of the myth of Narcissus, and the concept of the ego and how it is reflected in the space, in this case in the nature.

1. Discover of the site

The first time I entered this little house in the Parque das aguas, there was a girl playing the flute. So as not to disturb her, I stood watching her from the side and saw her reflection in the mirror. The music together with the mirrored image created a dreamlike and relaxing atmosphere. I shot a video and took a photo, with which I experimented at home, imagining how objects, colours, patterns, could interact with the imposing mirror of that place
