What we were at that stage

Don’t really work in a collective but interested in the term, maybe in another way
Matter of collectivity, as material
All is in relation to others, to collectives
Canvas brush paint pen
Also the body
Story telling in general
Individual/ body as material/body cells are not our cells but of microbes
Responsible for physical and mental health, also connecting with other species
Training the imagination in travelling through stories is a big interest
Deconstructs and opens up concepts we’re used to think with
Metamorphoses or transformations in how you tell stories
Quote Jane Bennett ‘cross-species encounters’ [interpenetrations]
Human bodies working with and depending on microbes
In texts and in paintings looking for moments of transformation
Somatics in visuals
Ula: examples?
Butterflies in her painting as related to metamorphosis
Also interested in fairies
Also looking for an atmosphere and colour is the main element that creates atmosphere in a painting
CAS with Delfine > MA proposal
Fiction <=> facts
No individual authorship (Daniel: this is so true!)
Eirini: synechia, Parmenides
Daniel
Benefiting, profiting!!
Script till we reach a point of decision
Script is loose
Background in theatre and uses to be on the hard line of politics
Looks very political even if it was not starting point
Metaphysical aspects get lost
Strange entity in performing arts that i look to explore: the magic of being in a room as a performer and having the moment
Approach from two directions:
. sensory part of it (incomplete), audio-visual aspect and listening, break it down into performative and non-performative > 16 frameworks for experiment
. trust [trust and care sessions] > script; in two weeks the world is not the dame anymore; can’t speak about trust without thinking that anyone could kill themselves (friend committed suicide)
What about trust and collectivity?!
Performing / making to process
Eirini: Trust is within; loss, abandonment, trauma > this is also collective trauma
Ula: euthanasia; it can be a positive thing; interesting why one feels betrayed because a friend committed suicide
Mentions Anouk Van Deik & Volk Richter: Trust
Daniel: suicide > tragedy or not?
[Robert Lax: How to bring yourself together / Let yourself fall apart]
Eirini
Highly hypnotisable
[humming as a way to activate a space and bodily spaces]
Shares humming practice
Ula
Dance, theatre, movement studies, Berlin ensemble and collective
Who is healthy and who gets to be healthy
Normality
Not knowing, critique to medicine
Child: degenerative disease, swimming, competitive sport, eight years later she had recovered
What can be the set up of for healing, for movement
What could be the methodology to bring bodies in different spectrums of abilities
Questions: sick woman manifesto (essay), healthy is white and privileged
Critique of the way we practice medicine, binaries [divides]
Performance (video)
Baby Volcano > co-choreographing, body positive and queer, erotic, all different types of body
Obstacle, methodological approach, value where to kick from
Meaning and form; colonilised
Need for the LAB: Le complices (name of the space where exhibition takes place); module: vessel; vessel as a container; how to narrate a story; access from embodied practice; how the body is a vessel; what is outside influences what is inside
Exhibition: compose a guided meditation the bodies as one single body [making practices from inquiries]

dear all
i hope you’re all doing well.
on sat 27.01 we meet for our last lab.☀️ and i’d like to propose a couple of things for the day. we have the seminar room 4.D12 and the Wind Tunnel reserved for us but i’ll try and reserve a dance studio or similar for the first part of the lab. here’s a draft plan, and it’s a draft because there might be small changes...
10:00 arriving and informal check-in
10:10 40’ of trust + care
10:45 revisit The Theory of Affordances and explore it
. What do I afford others and environmet?
. What are my affordances today or now or in general?
for example, I’m an organism that provides heat, so what do I afford a cold medium,
substance, surface?
. Walk around and when meeting others (living and non-living) perceive what they afford, and
you afford. In other words, what you bring to the encounter.
. Do/es their affordance/s call or inspire you to action in that moment? If yes, what action?
Try working with this also without necessarily explicitly meeting the other
11:45 10’ break meet at Windtunnel
11:55 continue with The Theory of Affordances
. eyes and hands exercise
. open peripheral vision
. multiattentional focus
. what does the Windtunnel afford? > reflect already on the idea of a sharing/open studio in april
12:30 45’ lunch break
13:15 humming (Eirini)
13:30 look into the Research Catalogue exposition together
15:00 15’ break
15:15 feedback to LAB 7 + brainstorm ideas for an open studio/sharing in march or april + possible dates
The Theory of Affordances is in the PDF i sent to everyone on 09.11.23. if you don’t find it i can resend.
i’m looking very much forward to the lab!!
warmest
