In 2017, I took part in an international research project led by Øyvind Brandtsegg, contributing four solo tracks to the double album Poke it With a Stick / Joining the Bots by T-EMP.
The project was focused on cross-adaptive processing as radical intervention in the communication between performing musicians. As a programmer, musician and instrument builder, Brandtsegg was interested in finding processing parameters that allowed for two performers to mutually influence eachother's output sound, and therefore playing. Since I operate two instruments at once between bass and voice, we experimented with cross-adaptive processings effect within my solo playing, as well as between myself and Miller Puckette, the developer of Max MSP. Our sessions took place at the University of California San Diego in Spring 2017.
