4.57 am is a 30-minute text piece set amidst an ambient soundscape. It was written in 2021 for live reading and later reorchestrated as an audio-visual ambisonic work for the Trondheim Planetarium. The planetarium's dome screen was used as a light source. As the text and music progresses, a white circle shrinks slowly over the course of 30 minutes and disappears right before the text's conclusion.
It is difficult to document a spherical audio-visual work on a flat surface (your screen)! I have instead created a digital version that simulates the reader's experience, reading from the iOS Notes app in the dark. It begins automatically and continues for the full duration (30 minutes) without the option to fast forward or re-wind. The visitor may pause the piece if necessary.
