The Word of the Year is a theater piece for bass, voice, sewing machine, sound scape, and live and pre-recorded text. It was workshopped in sections during several performances and video recorded April 2021 at Dokkhuset Scene. The project wove together songs, reflections, sound design, improvisation, and dialogue between myself and my mother, who is a fashion designer and labor activist living in Syracuse, New York.

A more intimate version of one of the main songs, Palm to Chest, was recorded in my empty apartment prior to a move, and can be viewed here:
