About uniT
uniT started as an association for theatre and art at the university of Graz and it still works in the fields of arts especially in the field of theatre and playwriting in the uniT- department DRAMA FORUM. In 2002 uniT started to work in cross-sector projects, combining arts and social fields. We provided training for artists to work in social fields and we have been running a lot of projects with artists in elderly homes, with migrants and refugees, and with municipalities. We worked on a regional, national, and European level. All these activities are part of another department of uniT - the KUNSTLABOR Graz. Since 2008 uniT has been extending its activities in the field of adult education, we have been working with different target groups like refugees, migrants, educationally disadvantaged people, illiterates. In all these years uniT has developed a methodical and didactic approach: LERNKUNST – German for “the art of learning” because it was always important for our educational work to include arts and creativity. uniT also fostered in different projects the access to labour market for different target groups, refugees migrants, socially and educationally disadvantaged people with different ages. uniT has gathered a lot of experiences in European projects, especially in the Erasmus+ programme but also in the Creative Europe programme, as a partner but also as a coordinator.
uniT has 25 employees. It is a quite multiprofessional team consisting of artists, adult education trainers, psychologists, pedagogues, social workers, music therapists and teachers.
