... NARRATING A COUNTER-PANORAMA, NOT TO GET FIXED IN TIME
The printed matters displayed in the exhibition at greengrassi, We will move to the land of birds as a flock of previous humans, curated by the Otolith Collective, offered a factual and document based reading as well as an imaginary and personal visualisation of feminist world-making and organising. It takes the little-known Women’s International Democratic Federation or WIDF as its starting point and dramatises moments of the tactics and strategies of anti-imperialist internationalism deployed by WIDF at the height of the Global Cold War from 1945 until 1963, and travels with the academic research of Elisabeth B. Armstrong and her most recent publication Bury the Corps of Colonialism The Revolutionary Feminist Conference of 1949 (2023) as a companion.
Unfolding the research material in the digital environment allows for continuation, more in-depth reading and extended linking to counter the efforts put into forgetting these rich feminsit histories of world-making.
