PACIFIC PATCH PEOPLE by Lisanne Fransen

My graduation project is called the Pacific Patch People — a climate fiction story. It is a (1) research project, (2) world-building exploration and (3) short film packaged all together, about a future civilisation that has settled on the Great Pacific Garbage Patch in the year 2120. With this story at its core, the threefold project is exploring if it is possible to tell a hopeful narrative, about an inspiring community, taking place in a future world unhinged and disorganised by climate changes.

BIO:

Lisanne Fransen is a Dutch-born production designer working in Stockholm, Sweden. With her roots in exhibition design she eventually evolved in creating scenography for music videos, short films, tv drama series and feature films.

In the Netherlands she graduated from the Utrecht School of the Arts in 2012. In Sweden thereafter she graduated as curator/ exhibition designer from Konstfack University in 2014. In 2020, she took her Masters exam in Production Design at the film and media institute of the Stockholm University of Dramatic Arts.

The Pacific Patch People project is Lisanne's master graduation project. It is a research project, world-building exploration and short film packaged all together. It reflects her pratice at its best as it is colourful, collaborative and asks critical and emotional questions about our relation to climate change!
