The art university – political dream or broadened future for the arts?
Denna årsbok, "Konstuniversitet – politisk dröm eller utvidgad framtid för konsten", är den trettonde upplagan av årsbok för konstnärlig forskning, och den första som ges ut endast på engelska.
Boken inleds med fyra artiklar på temat akademisering av konstnärlig forskning och utbildning, varav tre är skrivna av huvudtalarna vid förra årets symposium om konstnärlig forskning på Inter Arts Center i Malmö. I artiklarna undersöker de utvecklingen inom området från olika perspektiv, med fokus på konstuniversitetet, till stor del baserat på erfarenheter från författarnas respektive hemländer Schweiz, Storbritannien och Norge.
Den fjärde artikeln behandlar karriärvägar för konstnärliga forskare med doktorsexamen i Sverige. Av de cirka hundra innehavare av en konstnärlig doktorsexamen är 75 procent anställda vid lärosäten i Sverige eller utomlands. I avsaknad av mer detaljerade uppgifter, anser författarna att det är troligt att endast ett fåtal av dessa har kunnat fortsätta inom forskningsområdet efter att ha erhållit doktorsexamen. En mer kvalitativ uppföljningsstudie planeras för publicering i nästa årsbok, som kommer att belysa omfattningen av postdoktorandforskning på de relevanta lärosätena.

This yearbook, "The art university - political dream or broadened future for the arts", is the thirteenth edition of the Yearbook of Artistic Research, and the first to be published in English only.
The book opens with four articles on the theme of the academisation of artistic research and education, three of which were written by the keynote speakers at last year's symposium on artistic research at the Inter Arts Center in Malmö. The articles examine developments in the field from different perspectives, with a focus on the art university, largely based on experiences from the authors' respective home countries of Switzerland, the UK and Norway.
The fourth article deals with career paths for artistic researchers with doctoral degrees in Sweden. Of the approximately 100 holders of an artistic doctorate, 75 per cent are employed at higher education institutions in Sweden or abroad. In the absence of more detailed data, the authors consider it likely that only a few of these have been able to continue in the research field after obtaining a doctoral degree. A more qualitative follow-up study is planned for publication in the next yearbook, which will shed light on the extent of postdoctoral research at the relevant higher education institutions.
