The sound composition ES (it) is characterised by its structure, which is characterised by poetic logic and rhetoric. The logic addresses the transformation of hearing from subjectivity to objectivity. The metamorphosis from which several moths or butterflies flutter out is the subject of the rhetoric. The moth or butterfly is the 'self' of the speech. Compositionally, it was created using the sound synthesis "Shepard Tone"* and random configuration.
*The Shepard tone, named after Roger Shepard, is a sound consisting of a superposition of sine waves separated by octaves. This creates the auditory illusion of a tone that continually ascends or descends in pitch.
ES (it) - On surrealism in the sound composition
The sound composition in Surrealism is modified with some kind of geometric logic.
When the artistic movement surrealism began 100 years ago, it was based on knowledge of psychology. This style of manipulating two-dimensional depiction with geometry and rhetoric is a characteristic of paintings from the Renaissance onwards. Surrealism and cubism intersect, but while surrealism depicts images from the psychological "I" position, cubism transcends the world we see through the logic of the lens of photographic engineering deconstruct a worldview of 'wholeness'.
I explore in the context of Surrealism on the topic of 'Body' and its bodiless in the sound composition.
This work is a three-part composition. What people are talking about is normally is the first part of this piece where a person is reading Poem ES (it) into a microphone. In the third and final part, physicality transcends. However, I am composing from the cognitive perspective of 21st century neuroscience research, rather than psychological elements. That's the "ES (It)" in the title. The "Es" in this title is German and means "it" when translated into English which terms in Minimalism. - aquivocal, ambiguous and mystic for a new sense and its word
