10. IS THE TEXT EVEN NECESSARY?
As I already wrote, all the text and language processes I am attempting, aim at creating certain degrees of estrangement in relation to the colloquial language and text use. Technically speaking, I am using the text-sources as a starting point, almost as an “excuse” for applying any possible “hack”. My goal is to create pieces in which the text is not just recited or plainly put into music. The goal is to hide the source material, to mirror and personalize it, through my emotional response to it.
But then new questions appear:
Do the texts I am using become “personalized” enough with all the “tricks” I am discovering, or should also the text itself be self-made?
Even though I spoke about the importance and the reasons for the specific sources I am using, how important are, eventually, these texts to what I want to achieve?
Am I using these sources just because I do not dare to make a step further and create an own communication code, serving at least my musical purposes?
Could my sources just indicate the fields of my interest and that would be all?
Do I even need concrete text for conveying this energy and intention I am seeking to convey?
These questions could eventually take the shape of “what is that which I want to achieve”. This question opens a whole new window, the last dimension that has not yet been mentioned.
