Jostein Gundersen is Vice-dean of research at the University of Bergen, Faculty of Art, Music and Design. He is also a recorder player, and Associate Professor in music performance at The Grieg Academy - Department of Music, and he teaches historical improvisation at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater «Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy» in Leipzig. He graduated from the Norwegian Artistic Research Programme (NARP) in 2009, and led the artistic research project «Wheels within Wheels» 2015-2018, co-financed by NARP’s project programme. Since then he has worked for NARP/HK-dir as seminar leader, research school coordinator, moderator, commentator and project reviewer. He has done several first performances of works for recorder as well as for his ensemble Currentes. He has participated in stage productions with Neither Nor and Ursus Productions and composed the music for Carte Blanche’s performance «Souflette» in 2018. Jostein was also part of the international `Advancing Supervision for Artistic Research Doctorates´project, completed in 2021.
