Parabel V
During my early years as a composition student, MEP was presenting his Parabel V for 2 percussionists. He talked about how he lived near the top of a hill where the drumbands in the city centre of Bergen ('Buekorps') would march up and down in the springtime. He could hear the ritardando of the drummers marching uphill together with the accelerando of those marching downhill, and this was one of his inspirations for this piece.
