These fragile 'shimmers' were already at the verge of breaking. They were then digitally transposed to different registers, stretched in time, and processed with vocabulary we have already seen in use at the Ciconia distortions. Sounds of the deep transpositions started to resemble field recordings and abstract traffic noices. Everyday sounds literally recorded from the city were an important part of my previous research project, "Between instrument and everyday sound". The surrounding ambiences in the "Wheels within wheels" all were created from instrumental and vocal improvisations. Except for recordings of birds, grasshoppers, bubbles of water, and breaking glass, as mono and stereo recordings projected into 3D spaces.
