Signe Bakke is professor of piano and accompaniment at the Grieg Academy, University of Bergen, where she has been employed since 1992. She studied with Jan Henrik Kayser at the Bergen Music Conservatory and gaveher debut concert in Oslo in 1981. Two years later she was soloist with Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra while continuing her studies with Jens Harald Bratlie at the Norwegian Academy of Music. She received her Diploma in 1986.
During her career, she has done a broad range of performances as a soloist, chamber musician and accompanist. Collaboration with singers has always been an important part of her musicianship, and accompanying song students is a part of her work at the Grieg Academy.
She has been closely affiliated with Edvard Grieg Museum, Troldhaugen, where she regularly has given concerts for many years. Her CDs include music by Edvard Grieg, solo and fourhands, (Trold 18), contemporary music by Karen Tanaka (Crystalline, 2L)) and Morten Eide Pedersen (Soccorsi, LWC 1213). In collaboration with the soprano LIv Elise Nordskog she has released CDs with songs by Olivier Messiaen and Claire Dellbos (Pour Mi, LWC 1051) and Geirr Tveitt (LWC 1344).
Her collaboration with the soprano Hilde Haraldsen Sveen has included mentoring song students, duos and ensembles. Together they have given recitals and released the CD´s “Millom rosor” (songs by E. Grieg, LWC1006) and “Shadow Songs” (Euridice).
