Dear reader, welcome to this PhD Artistic Research project by Sidsel Christensen at The Art Academy, Faculty of Fine Art, Music and Design, University of Bergen, 2020–2024.
Here, I aim to guide you through the project’s context, demonstrate how the methodology of INTERDIMENSIONAL ARTISTIC SPECULATION has been engaged through the expanded media format of PERFORMATIVE INSTALLATIONS, and explore how this has allowed the artworks to emerge as MORE-THAN-HUMAN BEINGS.
You are invited to navigate the REFLECTIONS linearly through the six chapters and spatially within each chapter, moving between the main text in the left column and reference material on the right. I suggest revisiting the ARTISTIC RESULTS as they are referenced throughout your reading. For a quicker overview, use SUMMARIES in each chapter and on each ARTISTIC RESULTS page. Clicking will always fold you back to the front page.
Disclaimer: This PhD project aims to place you in an entangled position where content and context, matter and mind, fold into each other. It invites you into a space of extra dimensions, suggesting that such a speculative, expanded view can offer value to artistic research. This may feel disorienting at times. So while the language and form aims for clarity, I cannot shield you from encounters with the strange or the impossible.
