applique and embroidery with tree and birds

My panel is directly inspired by the activist artworks I encountered during my PhD research on insect decline, specifically monarch butterfly narratives in North America. The draw of the monarch is undeniable: these butterflies not only symbolise biodiversity loss, they have also become part of an important call for open borders and represent the affirmation that migration is beautiful. Imagine no borders; accept no less.
