The Theatre Education Atelier at the National Moravian-Silesian Theatre is a non-profit organization – an educational platform, which aims to educate the dramatic art and creates a space for children and young people to meet with artists. It was created due to the cooperation of Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts and the National Moravian-Silesian Theatre in September 2012. The idea was to teach and educate future spectators, active personalities with a positive attitude to art and culture. During its eight-year-long existence, the Atelier has implemented a number of successful cultural and educational projects for children, youth and their teachers.
In 2018, the brand new Theatre Education Atelier – centre for theatre education and creative meetings – was opened to visitors of the National Moravian-Silesian Theatre. Emphasizing drama art, the function of this new space is to seek and create new ways of how to perceive and understand art. The new space offers better possibilities so we can work more efficiently and go into depth when artists meet the audience to discuss current stagings and their closely related topics. The activities of the Atelier are meant for the general public, children and their parents, educators and students, and for the elderly people as well. Since 2021 Atelier has also focused on international cooperations and projects.
