DEVISED THEATRE
is a process of collective creation. The non-hierarchical structure in which the theatrical form originates uses the artistic potential of all those involved - it does not necessarily have to be actors or theatre people, different artistic disciplines are often connected in the production. There is no script at the beginning of this process, a group of artists enters the creative process with a given starting point (theme, concept, or a common theatre language), which they then develop, experiment with and improvise. The action scenario is created during rehearsals. The participants in the production are often not only performers, but also explorers, dramaturgs, designers or directors, the roles are not strictly divided as in the more traditional theatre approach. The outputs of their work are combined into a theatrical form that carries various thematic connotations. In addition, the audience of devised theatre is strongly encouraged to attach their own meanings to the theatrical event.
