Franz Liszt - Ricordanza (Transcendental Etude no. 9)
During this Intermezzo moment I would like to present my interpretation of the Transcendental Etude no.9 “Ricordanza” by Franz Liszt to the audience at ARTikulationen. Through the work on the complete cycle of 12 Transcendental Etudes during the past years, I have gained a vision and better understanding over the connection between virtuosity and emotion in Franz Liszt's music. During this performance, I would like to present the results of my research to the audience through a musical interpretation, without words.

Adela Liculescu
Piano
Adela Liculescu was born in Romania in 1993 and is a top prize-winner of many international piano competitions, among them the George Enescu Piano Competition Bucharest 2021, Prix du Piano Bern 2018, the International Brahms Competition in Pörtschach 2017, as well as the International Brahms Competition in Detmold 2017 and the Bösendorfer Piano Competition Vienna 2015. In the year 2020 she was awarded the Beethoven Prize by the Romanian Cultural Radio, on the 250th jubilee of the composer.
She has performed over 800 concerts, in locations such as the Berlin Philharmonic, the Gasteig Philharmonic in München, the Philharmonic in St. Petersburg, Musikverein and Konzerthaus Vienna, St. Martin-in-the-Fields London, the Romanian Athenaeum and the Radio Hall in Bucharest, as well as in many other concert halls across Europe, Asia and America.
Adela Liculescu is an official Bösendorfer Artist and she is the pianist of the quintet Philharmonic Five, with four members of the Vienna Philharmonic. With this ensemble, she has a concert series in Konzerthaus Vienna and had further performances such as the Opening of the Salzburg Festival 2021 and in the Intermission Movie of the New Year’s Concert of the Vienna Philharmonic 2023.
She graduated from the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna with distinction in piano performance, chamber music and piano pedagogy. At the moment she pursues a doctoral degree in artistic research at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz, where she works on a Liszt project under the supervision of Prof.Dr. Milana Chernyavska and Prof.Dr. Deniz Peters.
