My responsibility as a researcher was to provide a cultural frame where students’ voices are included (Hanula et al., 2021: 4-15). I would also like to mention that before teaching this unit, I taught one specific project where ninth-grade students discussed white privilege as the cause of racism and made a mural honoring the Black Lives Matter civil rights movement. In addition to that I considered the geopolitical context where this International Baccalaureate school is. In Norway, the laws go along with teaching a curriculum including intersectional discrimination. But, it also depends on how teachers are trained. Likewise, the geopolitical context of other international schools limits how the mission statement is practiced.
