notation 1: on "spatial arrangements"
on-site notation; notational materials: markings with tape and marker pen, displaced objects, photographic displacements
Just like a clavier, a space can be tempered too, fine-tuned to meet certain expectations. Here this had been made in the form of spatical arrangements: pieces of furniture had been positioned in order to support envisioned activities, the light conditions and temperature had been adjusted; unnecessary equipment, utensils, and other objects that would not be needed had been hidden behind the dividing walls, in boxes and cupboards. The room had been turned into an apparatus with its affordances.
I think of this “tempering” in terms of creating an atmosphere.
In terms of the conceptual framework prepared by Alex Arteaga and Nikolaus Gansterer:
Agency focused on in this notation is “spatial arrangements” (or fine-tuning, “tempering” the room).
I focused on displacing objects that I thought were full of potential for influencing the atmosphere of the building we were working in.
