Exposition

The told and Untold and the lost (last edited: 2024)

About this exposition

Coming from a documentary field I've always searched for authenticity and truth. But in my work, ethics and peoples lives has to be taken into consideration. Somehow I found myself not telling the entire truth in my documentaries. Something is always edited out and therefore lost forever. Can there be more truth to reality in fiction than in documentaries? What ethics and values do we have to take in consideration? What methods can be used in practice in the making of a fiction film using documentary material? But most importantly: What in the narrative changes as we use documentary material and processes into fiction? What is lost, what is found? Where is the line of ethics drawn in a process like this?
