Rebody
by
Gerhard Eckel,
Michael Schwab and
David Pirrò is a video
and an installation piece
in which the captured motion
of a dancer is transposed into
a dynamic drawing that informs a
musical composition.The piece explores
the dance movements, the drawing algorithms
and the musical structures in an attempt to
transpose rather than represent the dancer's movements.
Rebody
is based on
motion-capture data
collected from Bodyscapes (2009),
an intermedial dance solo performance
by Valentina Moar(choreography/dance),
Gerhard Eckel and David Pirrò (composition).
Rebody
was premiered
on September 16
2010 as part of the
Research Festival 'Unexpected
Variations' at the Orpheus Institute in
Ghent, Belgium. In the context of Transpositions
the project serves as a pre-study. For a complete
