THIS IS HAWAII, PART II. is based on a work place interview with a person who works at one of the larger institutions in Sweden.
Together with sampled fish sounds from an old cassette, the person guides us inside his world of other strange fish.
In 2017, Jenny made a re-construction PART II.as an audiovisual installation where she used a real aquarium live fish as a stage for the work.
In 2019, she made a video version of the same work.
This is Hawaii is a series of four soundbased, poethic works exploring the idea of Hawaii as a liminal space and a concept commissioned for Radio Sweden P3 Culture in 2005.
Scripted as radio plays, the pieces render documentary and fiction examining topics such as colonialism, exotism and alienation through an elusive framework of sentimentalism, melancholy, beauty and nostalgia.
