What is *nature*

How is *nature* "written"

How can nature be un-written

Learning to observe the place/time/space, the stories it wants to tell, and recognizing what is and will remain hidden in layers and layers, literal/material/metaphorical.

Noticing my inclination to look with an eye out for what I can take home with me. What can this *nature* do for me, rather than what can I do for it.

Or, nothing at all. But also...

My human(imal) instinct to touch, to sense, to learn in and from and with *my* environment. To locate. To allow *nature* and tactile reality to teach - to (re)shape *me*.

Touching the earth. Picking up bits and pieces here and there...shells from tiny to massive that I first think must be from the sea millions of years ago, until i realize they are snail, and even then remain unconvinced by the obvious...skin of a snake, in large pieces so that the shape and size are evident...rubbing dirt between my fingers, feeling the thickness and sticky texture of clay...pinching the earth into a nest, a cone, something useful but for *nature* not for me...
