Platonic Devices for Reflecting the Contemporary

Plants, cardboard boxes, leds, electric cables

180x80 cm, 2024

The concept of this device is to bring nature into a closed/urban environment, mainly from an optical perspective and, consequently, as a visual experience. The work consists of boxes transformed into projectors, which become tools for observing reality through its shadow. This dynamic echoes the Platonic allegory of the Cave, in which perfect ideas are only accessible through their projections, thus offering only a partial narrative. This represents the dynamic with which today's human relates to nature through scientific, electronic and analogue devices that constantly seek to subdue, control and contain it, interposing their own perspective and representation, resulting in an anthropocentric practice.
