I wake up in the morning and have coffee with the occupation
In this city.
We cry. We lament. We pray.
And all the time – .
This is not the place for stillness or for loosing yourself
in memories,
there is no room for nostalgia here.
In a city that has breakfast with the occupation,
mourns the victims of last week and
the death of Lazarus there is no space for melancholia.
Because it is weak - melancholia is weak.
This is a place of lamentation. The living through the scars.
The constants notion that nothing ever heals.
Rather, we live with it, through it. We do not forget.
We do not move on.
We cross through the valley of the shadow of death – to go to the supermarket.
We move up.
Up the winding streets and alleyways
to the shattered temple.
Up the steep hills overgrown with gravestones.
Up the ladder of Jacob –
if the angels can escape that way might we?
