Background of this story
– a love story between two young disabled women in wheelchairs
An experimental and practice-based horizontal queer theory:
My artistic attempt is thereby, what I learned from them, and whether I can explore this experience of mine objectively – that was a sensational experience – I considered autonomy and free will in their limited condition. It was so sensational that it destroyed German idealism.
But they are very special to me, because I was one of their arts educators (visual and performing arts), and an artist in a Berliner disability and non-disability Theater Assemble. So, I was not an observer of them, and therewith my emotional state was very active.
Without the help of others, they could not get off their wheelchairs by themselves, and when they fell on the floor, they could not even sit down by themselves. However, in two years, they could get off their wheelchairs by themselves, and they could get on their wheelchairs by themselves. But with their way.
At a film festival at the Finnish National Gallery (Museum) in Helsinki, several disabled people in wheelchairs who watched the film "Sensation of Motion in Time" (their performance) said it was very uplifting.
In Walter Benjamin's words, their performance had 'Aura'. In doing so, I explore it in connection with the spatial aesthetics of the “whole” without vision. In other words, the 'whole' is included the atmosphere in the environment.
An important point of view of the choreography in this performance: Martina Nitz climbed the stairs from behind (...) and, from the movement of the floor, managed to get into the wheelchair by herself. One of my tasks was to come up with a training concept from the medical aspect that would allow her to move without cramps. One was the breath training for the individual movement.
At this Disability Film Festival the artwork, unlike my artwork, was the British Disabled Artist's British Freak Show. I met a lot of British disabled artists at the Film Festival at the National Film Theater in London. They had their own flair for alternative art in London and worked as individual professional artists (TV, Radio, Visual arts, Film, Theater, Music and Writing Scripts for TV and Radio) in the art industry. I attend the workshop series (theory and practice in dance and movement, e.g. contact improvisation) of them on the topic of 'equality' and 'fairness', which was already an international and global art and culture organisation. For attending the festivals and conferences in the EU, Theater Thikwá financed me (Theater Thikwà was the collaboration partner of my project) and I presented Theater Thikwá together with my art project.
I can say, "I was a part of 'Queer' art and culture scene."
