Sometimes, I still wonder if there is any general definition for the concept of art that would be able to characterize the whole concept within a simple definition. However, the longer I have been active in the area, the more I think there is no such thing. Art is represented in so many spectra that it is basically impossible to apply general forms to it. And that is, in my opinion, not only crucial but also very beautiful.
Like art itself, the motivation behind creating it can be very different for every artist. For me, the fundamental opinion is that art only becomes meaningful when it is perceived by someone. The book would not be complete without a reader, nor would a painting without a painter. The same, perhaps by its very nature, can be applied to the field of conceptual art, in which I would certainly place my project.
Also, the personal motivation behind creating anything is what makes the created result typical and „alive“. That is why I devoted a part of the thesis to personal background which eventually let me to come with the idea of the project. In the thesis, I also describe many references and I talk a lot about different art concepts and artists practicing similar project all around the world.
The thesis can be found here.
