James Wood at his studio in November 2004 in London during my visit. Wood has a store of percussion instruments; many of them (for example cowbells and different glasses) are tuned to quartertones.

Adams constructed a marimba extended with one extra row of bars with 7 quartertones, specially for James Wood. He has written several pieces for this instrument.
