Peter Tornquist (b. 1963) studied composition with Lasse Thoresen at the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo and with George Benjamin at the Royal College of Music in London. His compositions have been featured at various international events, like the ISCM World Music Days and the Rostrum of Composers in Paris.  Recent works focus on the interaction between composer and performer through improvisation, and has resulted in pieces featuring artists like Arve Henriksen. Christian Wallumrød and the London Sinfonietta. This development has opened new stylistic directions in Tornquists music, combining elements from acoustic, electronic and improvised sources into an unique blend of contemporary music.
