The pieces all have a sense of layering of materials, of time and politics embedded in them, they are site specific and deal with tracing up different fractions of a narrative of the globalized landscape of ceramics and the contemporary ruin. They span a timeline of a sort, trace the cracks and demise of the ruin, highlighted with the poetics of the desert and the jungle.
I see the process of ruination as a gradual one and use marks that have come to being with time and use of the buildings. The project has been an attempt to highlight the tear and wear of the factory and link together the time period from before and after the factory closed down by revealing and and re-connecting the marks of time that are fixed within the architecture itself.
