Karin Blomgren (1987, Sweden) is based in Bergen. She is currently studying MA in fine arts at Bergen Academy of Art and Design. She has a BA in Ceramics at Bergen Academy of Art and Design.
For the BCB, my main focus is a pair of obsolete toilets at the former Spode Works. These spaces you would not be shown on a tour of the factory, but at the same time they are one of the rooms with the strongest impression that people once inhabited the site. I see the bathrooms as a piece of the infrastructure of the former works. As a part of my method, I like to set up rules to follow and with a general interest in systems, blueprints found on site, traffic markings and techniques from the ceramic world are applied in the spaces and the work unravel itself.
