Originally from Stoke-on-Trent, now based in Sheffield. Foundation at Newcastle-under-Lyme College before completing her degree in Fine Art at Sheffield Hallam University.
Originally a resident of Stoke-on-Trent, my father had a previous career as a caster of 30 years within various Pottery Industries. Influenced by Post Industrial changes within the city themes have developed through my education. Currently I am a practicing Artist, completing a Graduate Residency at S1 Artspace.
Working with my enjoyment of materials my work draws from the interaction between the readymade and the handmade, looking at the concept of the handmade within an environment of mass production. These relationships are explored through layering and contrasting objects from industrial sources within the gallery space. Experimenting with the aesthetic properties of raw form and function I question the very nature of the material. Questioning objects subservient to quick fix effects examines the simplicity of form and colour through aesthetic experience.
Reflections on the readymade and the handmade.
