- We are obviously ecstatic over getting the opportunity to take this further, says Anne Helen Mydland.
The Steering Committee of the Norwegian Artistic Research Programme processed in a meeting on 26 February 2015, the 18 applications for funding from the Project programme, which had entered by the deadline. On the basis of policies, applications and the experts opinions, it was decided to support five projects. Topographies of the Obsolete is one of these.
The project 'Topographies of the Obsolete' started in 2012 and has now received NOK 1,510,000 for Phase 2.
The project was initiated and is lead by KHiB-Professors Anne Helen Mydland and Neil Brownsword. It involves collaboration with 40 international artists and theorists associated with partner universities and institutions in Denmark, Germany, France and the UK. Phase 1 of the project focused upon the artistic responses to the postindustrial landscape of Stoke on Trent, the historic centre of ceramic manufacture in the UK. For phase 2 the aim is to juxtapose and mirror the experiences, methodologies and outcomes that evolved through phase 1 to other postindustrial regions. Existing and new partner institutions will apply methodologies of working site specifically uncovered through the project, back to their national local context, thus grounding the project in their own research environment and landscape.
- We are obviously ecstatic over getting the opportunity to take this further, says Anne Helen Mydland.
