BIOGRAPHICAL NOTES ABOUT JOHN EHDE
John Ehde, born in 1962, is one of Scandinavia´s most versatile cellists with a broad range of activities on his schedule. In the contemporary field, he has premiered more than 50 solo and chamber works, and he enjoys a close collaboration with the Danish jazz elite. The solo CD “Sonatas & Scenes” (2010) was labelled “Recording of the Year” in its category by Music Web International.
He has worked as principal cellist in the Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra, Sweden (1989-99), Trondheim SO, Norway and Zealand SO, Denmark. During his student years in Vienna, he was a regular assistant with the Vienna Philharmonic.
Since 2006 he has taught cello at Malmö Academy of Music and has given master classes in numerous countries around the world. As a soloist and chamber musician he has toured throughout Europe, Canada, US, Singapore, China, Hong Kong, and Vietnam. He has recorded many CDs for various labels.
