I have been playing around with the different installations of my sculptures in space. Thinking about the fact that there will be Emma's paintings on the walls for the graduation show, since we are sharing TUUB, I think it would be really nice to have some sculptures connecting to some paintings within the presentation. (Of course, we are presenting our own work, however since it's in one space, an interesting narrative between our works could be really visually exciting).
I played around with the sculptures seemingly staring at the wall in this photo on the left.
I discovered placing the sculptures in two groups of three really worked for me. This way, the sculptures can be placed really close together without creating too much empty space around them and secondly closing off the space inbetween. I still want people to be able to move around the sculptures but the sculptures having their own dialogue is also very important.
SO, for the graduation show, my idea, as photographed below, is to group the sculptures with a good amount of space inbetween the two groups. They can communicate with each other without all of them connecting at once and it becoming confusing (this is something I have found when trying to install them). The groups and positioning is dependant on the work Emma is showing and how the forms and colours work with each other. Grouping the sculptures also allows a good amount of undisturbed wall space for Emma's work.
WHAT IT COULD ACTUALLY, PHYSICALLY BE LIKE:
Since this is all online, I aquired the help of Maya and Zwantje to show what the
installation looks like with people walking around.
