Land walks by Annabel Schouten

For this work I walked the land and shaped circle paths. The result of repeatedly walking over and over the paths has an aesthetic value, at the moment there are seven circles visible from repeatedly walking over the created paths. The aesthetic sight does not cover all of the meaning for me, therefore I decided: "The artwork is the experience of the walker, the movement that is taking place and has taken place. You can experience the artwork by walking the circles". On this Logbook page you can read about the experiences of the walkers, it's in Dutch because all of the walkers are from the Netherlands

For this work we, other walkers and me, walked the land repeatedly to form circle paths. The result has an aesthetic value, at the moment there are seven circles visible from repeatedly walking over the created paths. The circles aren't perfectly shaped so I measured the first six circles on four points to calculate the average radius. By knowing the radius I was able to calculate the perimeter and the surface.

In the following video I will take you to the circle place. At first you will only hear sound. The sounds are recorded on the circle spot. In the film that follows you will hear different pieces of the logbook. I would like to advise you to take some time to watch the video.
