« Au début je me retrouvais sur le lit. Avec lui. Avec Louis. En fait derrière lui. Il parlait d’indiens. De notre arrivée en Amérique. D’Ellis Island. Il me tenait les mains. J’étais en sous-vêtement, top blanc et culotte blanche. »
« Après j’étais parterre. Petite française alors que Thomas et Lechy nous rendait visite. Je faisais le ménage. Je ramassais des plumes je crois. Lechy traduisait ce que Thomas disait. Elle avait ses grosses lunettes de soleil noires. »
« Y avait ce grand lit au milieu. »
« Puis je me revois assise là dans le coin, enceinte, sur un cube. Un très très long moment. En face de moi il y a avait quelqu’un, sans doute Thomas. »
« Je me souviens que Lechy dessinait un papillon dans le dos de Louis avec du rouge à lèvre blanc. »
