Biographies

Stephen Roddy is a human-computer interaction researcher and a practitioner of experimental electronic music and sound art. He is an IRC postdoctoral fellow at CONNECT, Trinity College Dublin. His research is focused on the development of auditory display solutions for large-scale internet of things (IoT) networks. These systems integrate principles from embodied cognition, artificial intelligence, and machine learning with sonification techniques. Stephen serves on the board of ISSTA (the Irish Sound, Science and Technology Association) and Interference: a Journal of Audio Culture.

Brian Bridges is a composer and lecturer based in Derry/Londonderry, Northern Ireland, where he lectures in music technology at Ulster University and is Research Director for music and associated subjects. He is President of ISSTA (the Irish Sound, Science and Technology Association) and serves on the editorial board of Interference: a Journal of Audio Culture. Much of his work is inspired by connections between perceptual and cognitive processes, creative practices, and technologies, and his creative output includes sound–based installations and electroacoustic and acoustic composition, including microtonal and spatial music.
