weS.A.N.K. by vincent roumagnac

2016 – 2018 by weS.A.N.K.* Research Group: Vincent Roumagnac and Emmanuelle Chiappone-Piriou in collaboration with guests artists and architects The weS.A.N.K. research project emerged from director-researcher Vincent Roumagnac’s dialogue with architect- researcher Emmanuelle Chiappone-Piriou. It surfaced at the confluence of Roumagnac's doctoral research on “Deepening the Stage” and Chiappone-Piriou's research on proto-architecture in relation to art and computation. Together they have designed and implemented a two-year experimental project with and around the question: "How to prototype the stage of the future?". Via five collaborative sessions, in Tokyo, Paris, Helsinki, Barcelona and Daegu, together with artists and architects invited locally, they carried out the performative design and assembling of those prototypes. From general themes – including theatre and architecture, stage and time ecology, big data and post-industrial landscapes, dystopian narratives and daily rituals, networks, climate, memory, energy and affect... – the spontaneous conceptualization and manufacture of prototypes sought to explore contemporary bio/techno-sensitive and geographical conditions and, from those diverse perspectives, to coalesce physical and informational objects with a scenic dimension. weS.A.N.K. Deep Stage As... is the final staging of the whole research project. Through a double mise-en-scène - an installation and an exposition on the Research Catalogue - it invites spectators to enter this twofold speculative landscape and to take part, through the experience of the shared quantity, in the emergence of alternative common scenic imaginaries. *weS.A.N.K. is for we Speculative Architectures of Neganthroposcenic Kronotopias

weS.A.N.K. ^Paris

Second of the five collaborative sessions of the weSANK project, weS.A.N.K. ^Paris took place at Mains d'Oeuvres (Paris/St-Ouen) from 28th to 30th of January 2018, with Guillaume Aubry (visual artist/architect), Carolina E. Santo (geoscenographer-researcher), Anne-Valérie Gasc (visual artist), Laura Gozlan (visual artist), Emmanuel Guez (mediarcheologist/philosopher/artist), Icinori (designers), Sébastien Martinez Barat & Benjamin Lafore (architects), Aurélie Pétrel (visual artist/photographer), Florian Sumi (visual artist), Aurélien Vernant (historian of architecture/curator), in addition to the project hosts, theatre director-researcher Vincent Roumagnac and architect-researcher Emmanuelle Chiappone-Piriou. The installed outcome was presented in the group show Au Loin Une île, curated by Chloé Grondeau (Diagonale, Montreal - Canada) at Mains d'Oeuvres in the continuation of the session, fom the 1st of February to the 11th of March 2018.
