Thymeshift has been working/touring in different constellations since 2011. It is one of my most important outlets for playing and creating music.

The core of this group is Thomas Gunillasson, Johan Björklund, Thomas Backman and around us different artists are invited for collaborations. The music presented here is from one of the newer projects with Danish keyboardplayer/soundartist Katrine Amsler.
This unit takes the music in directions unheard of before, combining beats and electronics with cinematic soundscapes performed with a rock edge.
The tunes focuses on strong melodic material and adventurous improvisation taking the listener for an unforgettable journey.

An interesting remix experiment interpreting music that is very wellknown, making it my own. The process is similar to that used in Pjäxeröd 2.0 with remote recordings, sending files back and forth and finally editing togehter to a new piece of music.
Recycling and connecting to nature.
"SSS" - Björklund/Legan/Norrbom
Johan Björklund - Norddrum, electronics
Sandro Legan - drums
Julius Norrbom - electronics
Recorded and filmed February 2021 at Academy of Music and Drama, Gothenburg, Sweden.

Music created as a collective composition and improvisation with
inspiration from our Solar system. Interaction of the planets, the sound of space. I see references here to the small perspective of the specific place Hedekas which also is all about interaction and creating sound of (a different) space.
Several interesting similar meeting points with improvised. interactive ensemble music.

On this page I present examples of works that were made during the same period as my Master studies 2020-2022.
They are connected to Pjäxeröd 2.0 and Darkthrone Forest in terms of similar concrete composition- and working methods, practice and the use of different themes.

Because of that they are also relevant to be a part of this project.

"HEAVY WEATHER"

AIR4x400 Gothenburg 400 Years 2021
Johan Björklund - drums, voice, electronics, keyboards
Kajsa Wallmon - voice
Robert Axelsson - sound design

This project was initiated by the City of Gothenburg connected to the 400 year celebration of the citys birth.
As one of four invited artists in the Artist in residence-project "AIR4x400" I created a sound/visual installation during a week in June 2021. The project took place at Vårväderstorget in Biskopsgården, a part of Hisingen in Gothenburg. The given theme was "rain" and I made an improvised interpretation of that using drums, electronics, prerecorded weather forecasts (a bit twisted), water, plastic and steel garbage etc. I challenged myself to also create a visual artwork including myself making a performance in the rain and the environment of steel and plastic garbage on the place given.

This was a bit new experience to me and I learned a lot about how much a visual addition to the sounding art can give new and bigger experiences to both the artist and the audience.
The theme "rain" also got me thinking about how much the water and rain means for us in our whole existence and could not ever be taken for granted. When putting that in a smaller perspective and making the connection - seeing how the rain and weather decided  completely when and how to do things on my familys farm Pjäxeröd.

Recorded and mixed Feb-March 2022 at Academy of Music and Drama, Gothenburg, Sweden by Oskar Karlsson.

Plastic bottles, abandoned fishing nets, bags and fibres from synthetic clothes are just somethings among the enormous amount of plastic garbage taking over the Oceans Worldwide and threatening all life in them.
So much of todays plastics are used where not needed and by reducing this we can also reduce the dangerous consequences of the plastics and in the microplastics in particular.
Getting the plastics into the circular economy and reusing/recycling is elementary.
Also here I make the connection with how things worked at our farm Pjäxeröd where recycling and taking care of almost everything produced without spilling was top priotity.

This music is both a mourning over the state of things right now but also a roaring cry out for change!
