There is a massive abundance of goods that end up in landfills. With such abundance of goods, no one should be deprived.
Proposal: A system of waste containers linked to surveillance cameras to be installed across a city borough. People place their unsused items in the containers for others to pick up.
Rule: Everyone who picks up an item must leave another item in the container.
Rule: Anyone who picks up an item and does not leave another is forbidden from using the skip again.
Rule: As long as everyone picks up an item and leaves another, the value of the items left and picked up is of no importance.
Technology: CCTV surveillance cameras using facial recognition will stop anyone who picks up an item and does not leave another by automatically closing the skip's door.
Public Space: The system will be placed in green spaces.
