Chaotic, provisory, discretely resistant—like an old rock formation. Three layers. Three levels of visibility—three qualities of visuality.
Two kinds of provisionality. The one very discrete, not conceived as being provisional but becoming provisional because originated in a culture of the 'possible-now', of limited resources, of temporary, possible solutions. The other conceived as temporary. Easy to remove, to interchange, to be transported, to be installed. But, simultaneously, trying to negate, to hide its provisory character. 'I know it is provisory (but it doesn't look like that)'. Nevertheless, its current situation between two construction potentially threatened, potentially in a process of disappearing, reinforces its provisory character. Provisory, in this case, because it will be substituted—with 'something better', something that will increase the pressure on the old constrictions to disappear (materially or visually). Two vectors with different directions in time: the one leading toward disappearance, the other toward growth, fulfillment.
Between these to dynamic layers, a third one—stable, untouched by the evolution of its surroundings. A point of arrival. An island attached to other islands, not expecting anything, not wanting anything, tolerating small changes in its interior which reinforces its isolation, its lack of interest for the other—for any form of otherness, of collectiveness. Tolerating a chaotic development on its upper part because there will not be present either for itself. nor for others that not pay close attention from a certain distance—which is not intended, wanted, which can be easily ignored. Ignoring what it was there before and what is coming to be. Not interested in becoming but in closing any evolution, any transformation. 'This is it, do not disturbed'. A fortress against time—negating time.
Another kind of fortress, showing its construction, resisting adversities—with limited means. A fortress in time—aware of what is possible (what was possible when it was built). Trying, simply, to be there—still. Claiming, silently, its own dignity—or simply, its own presence.
