Why did I join the Classical Expression Research Group
A primary reason for this research originated from my work as a music and violin teacher in primary schools. One of these schools is a special education school (a ZMLK school) for children who have learning disabilities. I do notice the differences in learning process, patience and behavior between children in special education and normal education. It can be a struggle to know how to teach children who have learning difficulties, especially when the topic is music. Other music teachers in special education share this struggle.
The aim is to know how to best present classical music to children with learning disabilities. What moves them and makes them an attentive listener to the music? The research will not only help me in my teaching practice. It should also help other special education music teachers plan their lessons, share their love for music and above all; know how to do this best.
